Socio-economical impact The Laboratory of Bioprocesses in collaboration with the Belgium University (ULB, FPMs) had developed at real scale an olive mill wastewater OMW treatment plant. This process is able to transform the pollutant OMW in energy (Biogas), compost and treated wastewater which could reused in fertiirrigation. Our Laboratory developed at an industrial scale a Membrane Bioreactor plant based on the use of a special bacteria with cross flow membrane ultrafiltration for the treatment of anionic surfactant rich wastewater.
